Cal's Story
My name is Cal Sloan, I was born in San Diego California in 1949 at Balboa Navy Hospital. I grew up like everyone else did in the 50's and 60's went to school and cut school to surf up Beach Blvd hitch hiking. At the age of 17 I join the U.S.Army to see the world, ended up stationed in Vietnam in 1967 -1968, and during the TET offensive of 68,' by the time I was 18 when I rotated home I had seen all I wanted of death and destruction. We had a nice warm home coming with protesters outside of San Francisco airport protesting the war in Vietnam. I finally got married at age 25 and still married to the same person Penny Doyle now Penny Sloan for 42 years now... We had two daughters the first one is Kelly Sloan a great daughter pro surfer all these years and still is at 40 years old she is a supervisor at Costco, and my 2nd daughter and a great daughter Beck...Expand for more

I Graduated from a two year college Mira Costa College with 2 degrees. After suffering with PTSD for many years of my life due to my tour in combat with the 187th assault helicopter company as a door gunner I suffered from deep depression for many of those years, I retired NOT conventionally as a grounds and labor pool foreman at Camp Pendelton California at the early age of 35. The people close to me who knew me then thought the bombardment, helicopters flying around my butler building and the small arms fire that was constant all day long, got to me. And live in Vista since 1974 and in the same home for the past 32 years.
I don't have a picture because I was in Vietnam in 1967-1968 (That is it in a nut shell )...
